WATER MANAGEMENT
Reducing environmental impact and preserving natural resources:
- Eco-friendly ceramics: Reduced material thickness leads to lower water consumption in production;
- Efficient water management: 15.000m³ of water saved annually;
- 100% reuse of industrial wastewater within internal processes;
- Implementation of a rainwater collection system for cleaning and maintenance operations (project under study).
WASTE MANAGEMENT
Sustainable principles drive the production process:
- Reintegration of approximately 3% of materials into the production cycle;
- Recycling of 2.300 tons of ceramic waste and sludge and 1.500 tons of raw ceramic dust and waste reused as raw material;
- Reduction of landfill waste;
- Efficient waste management, ensuring proper material separation according to recycling guidelines and appropriate disposal in yellow, blue, green, and battery recycling bins, minimizing environmental impact.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Commitment to sustainability and energy-efficient operations:
- Adoption of Biomethane: Pioneers in Portugal
First ceramic company in Portugal to adopt biomethane. This innovation marks a new chapter in sector decarbonization, contributing to:- Sustainability: reducing CO₂ emissions and reinforcing commitment to the energy transition;
- Efficiency: direct replacement of natural gas without altering production processes;
- Stability: ensuring a reliable and competitive energy supply.
- Solar Power Plant:
- Installed in 2020 with 2.434 solar panels;
- Annual production: approximately 2 GWh;
- Significant CO2 reduction: 350 tCO2eq/year.
- First Smart & Sustainable Dryer:
- Four drying modules, total power 800 kW;
- Operates without traditional fuels;
- Flexible operation: electric, gas, or hybrid;
- Advanced and innovative heating elements;
- Ensures production continuity, even with limited solar energy availability.
- Hot Air Reuse:
- Heat recovery system from kilns, optimizing drying efficiency.
- Variable Speed Control in Machinery:
- Modern speed control equipment;
- Electricity savings: 10% to 30%.
PAPER & PACKAGING
- Packaging process:
Recycling 36 tons of paper/cardboard annually. - Sustainable Packaging:
100% recycled and fully recyclable materials. - Reduced use of virgin raw materials:
This practice contributes to minimizing waste, reinforcing the commitment to sustainability and responsible management of resources. - To ensure efficient recycling, packaging must be placed in the blue recycling bin
, properly empty and flattened, optimizing space and the reuse process.
PLASTIC MANAGEMENT
- Ensuring alignment with environmental protection principles and sustainability goals;
- Recycling approximately 10 tons of plastic annually;
- Packaging sleeves contain 30% recycled materials;
- Innovative circular economy practices;
- Encouraging responsible material use to minimize waste;
- For efficient recycling, packaging must be placed in the yellow recycling bin
, properly empty and flattened, optimizing space and reuse.
