Primus Ceramics strengthens energy strategy with storage and smart management

Primus Ceramics is advancing its energy efficiency roadmap through the implementation of energy storage and smart management solutions, in partnership with Helexia.

This strategic move enhances operational efficiency, increases production flexibility and mitigates exposure to energy price volatility — a key challenge in energy-intensive industries.

The partnership began in 2019 with a 521 kWp photovoltaic plant, enabling onsite renewable generation and a more integrated energy model.

Battery storage systems and a smart energy management platform are now being deployed at the Aradas and Taboeira facilities, enabling just-in-time monitoring of electricity, water and compressed air consumption, and driving continuous optimisation.

Around 25% of the company’s energy demand is already secured through biomethane, reinforcing its decarbonisation pathway and building a cleaner, more resilient energy mix.

This evolution strengthens efficiency, boosts energy autonomy and reinforces Primus Ceramics’ position as a forward-looking player in sustainable industrial transformation.
